Baked Salmon With Lemon and Dill (20 Minutes)

By the ProstateFoods editorial team · Last updated October 13, 2026 Short answer: Brush salmon fillets with olive oil, season, top with lemon slices and dill, and bake at 400°F for 12 to 15 minutes, until the thickest part reaches 145°F.

This recipe was developed by the ProstateFoods team from standard techniques and measurements. It has not been kitchen-tested. Prep time: 5 min Cook time: 15 min Total time: 20 min

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 4 salmon fillets, about 5 oz each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced, plus wedges to serve
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill (or 2 teaspoons dried)
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • Salt and pepper

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 400°F and line a sheet pan with parchment.
  2. Pat the salmon dry and place skin-side down. Brush with oil mixed with garlic; season.
  3. Lay lemon slices over the fillets and scatter dill on top.
  4. Bake 12 to 15 minutes, until the fish flakes and an instant-read thermometer reads 145°F, the federal safe minimum for fish [1].
  5. Serve with lemon wedges, a whole grain and a green vegetable.

Nutrition notes

A 3-ounce portion of cooked farmed Atlantic salmon has about 0.6 g EPA and 1.2 g DHA in USDA data [2]. See omega-3 foods for other fish and what the research does and doesn't show.

An instant-read thermometer like the TempPro TempSwift takes the guesswork out.
